Several natural herbs and supplements may help people with fibromyalgia, according to an article in Natural News March 14, 2010.
People with fibromyalgia typically have long-term, body-wide pain and tender points in joints, muscles, tendons, and other soft tissues, but natural herbs and supplements may help reduce that pain.
The article suggests that a small daily dose of colloidal silver, the liquid suspension of microscopic silver particles, can help to heal fibromyalgia, and proteolytic/digestive enzymes may help dissolve the fibrin, a fibrous protein involved in the clotting of blood, and reduce pain.
Magnesium is another supplement that may benefit people with fibromyalgia. “Magnesium deficiency has been associated with fibromyalgia and it is estimated that as many as 80 to 95 percent of us are deficient in magnesium,” wrote Tony Isaacs, the author.
Fibromyalgia has also been associated with heavy metal contamination in the body; the author suggests eating parsley, chlorella and cilantro, foods that help to remove the body’s heavy metals.
Additionally, the article recommends that people with fibromyalgia follow good dietary practices such as eating foods with essential fatty acids and omega 3’s, eating yogurt and avoiding sugars, artificial sweeteners and foods containing bleached flour.
According to Isaacs, Curcumin, blackseed oil and oleander extract may also help people with fibromyalgia, as those supplements help protect the body against disease.
“Do not give up on exercise,” recommends the article. “People with fibromyalgia often stop exercising because it is painful. However, inactivity weakens muscles and makes them more sensitive to pain.”
