Hypnotherapy can be an effective option to help smokers quit, according to a recent article in TechBanyan.
The article, written by Jody Morse, says that hypnotherapy can be very successful in helping people to quit smoking, although the statistics vary by study.
Morse suggests that, before seeking hypnotherapy, people should be they want to quit or like any treatment, hypnotherapy is unlikely to work.
For those people committed to quitting, Morse says the next step is to find a reputable, licensed hypnotherapist with whom you are comfortable. She suggests visiting a few hypnotherapists and speaking with former clients.
Once a hypnotherapist has been selected, Morese recommends discussing the treatment plan, including cost and number of visits likely required.
“Knowing what you are getting yourself into prior to making the decision to really begin hypnotherapy will help increase your chances of experiencing success with it,” Morse wrote.
Morse also suggests getting some hypnotherapy tapes that can be used at home to help deal with the urges to smoke in between hypnotherapy sessions.
“Do not stop hypnotherapy until you are sure that you have quit smoking,” recommends Morse. “If you are thinking about starting smoking again, even if it is years after your hypnotherapy has ended you may want to think about having a refresher session to prevent yourself from doing it again.”
